About the Program
  • Four-year combined Medical Genetics and Genomics Residency and Maternal-Fetal Medicine Fellowship program
  • Clinical training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Medical Genetics and Genomics
  • Train academic leaders in Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Medical Genetics and Genomics
  • Board eligible by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics upon completion of the program
  • Develop an understanding of clinical diagnostic services, such as clinical molecular diagnostics, cytogenetics and biochemical genetics
Objectives

In addition to the MFM Curriculum, Fellows in the Combined Program will gain expertise in:

  • Clinical skills in prenatal and postnatal genetic conditions
  • Diagnosis and management of conditions affecting women with complicated pregnancies and patients with genetic diseases
  • Genetic laboratory services such as the Biochemical Genetics Laboratory, Cytogenetics Laboratory, and Molecular Genetics Diagnostic Laboratory
  • Fellows are required to accumulate a logbook of 150 cases with genetic or possibly genetic conditions, including pediatric, adult and obstetric genetics, as well as neurogenetics, cancer genetics and biochemical genetics
Educational Program
  • Six monthly clinical rotations in Reproductive Genetics count for both MFM and Medical Genetics and Genomics (combined rotations)
  • Eighteen months of research rotations, with at least six months related to genetics
  • The trainee will complete the requirements of the Program in a total of 48 months
