Those chosen as fellows will become part of two challenging and exciting groups:

The Division of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Wayne State University and the Perinatology Research Branch

Faculty members are housed at the Detroit Medical Center (DMC; Hutzel Women's Hospital). The Faculty is nationally and internationally known for their contributions to the field. We currently have 9 Maternal-Fetal Medicine specialists in our Division. One Faculty member has formal training and Board certification in Medical Genetics. Ten Faculty members are housed at the new Hutzel Women's Hospital (HWH) and the Perinatology Research Branch, while two are at Sinai-Grace Hospital, which is a DMC-affiliated institution.

The Perinatology Research Branch

This Branch is part of the Intramural Division of the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) of NIH which has been located at Hutzel Hospital for over ten years. The Perinatology Research Branch has clinical and laboratory divisions and a strong emphasis on translational research.  The Branch has pioneered studies in the role of infection and inflammation in preterm labor and delivery and the prenatal diagnosis of congenital anomalies with three-dimensional and four-dimensional ultrasound.  The Perinatology Research Branch has a strong emphasis on the conduction of original research, publication and training of academic leaders.
